I’ve gone to baitcasters almost exclusively for trolling. Like Randy mentioned, the flippin switch is a nice option for many of applications. I run St Croix bounce and troll rods with quantum baitcasters with the flippin switch. You can get into that combo for between $200-$250.

This past year I spooled five spinning and five baitcasters with the new (last year) Fireline Braid and have to say I love it better than any other braid I've used prior. Before using the newer Fireline Braid I only used Spiderwire Stealth.

WebI currently use 14lb Fireline on my spinning reel (which I absolutely love). I also would like line that makes me not want to drown myself after half the spool turns into a nest. Out of all of them the PowerPro has worked the best with Sufix being a close second. I have only two baitcasters, and I need one to be c-rigged. The other I like to have a jig tied on. The topwater and cranks I use spincasters and I use fireline, or something similar on them.
