In a nutshell, older hardware with older sensors can only use 1.0 tracking whereas newer hardware with newer sensors (Vive Pro, Vive Cosmos Elite) can work with both 1.0 and 2.0 stations. You cannot use 1.0 and 2.0 basestations at the same time - they conflict. WebOne of the tracker sets I have requires the hmd tracking location to figure out placement of some trackers I’m using that do not require base station (imvu sensor only, haritoraX 1.1). I assume editing the steam vr setting document files may work to trick steam vr into thinking a single vive tracker is the headset.

You need at least one base station for seated VR and two for roomscale, but you can go with 1st gen base stations that can usually be picked up for cheap used. If you are using HTC Vive 1.0 base stations, change the channel (or the letter on the front) on one base station to b and the other to c. Do this by pressing the button on the back to cycle through the channels. WebThe Valve Index handhelds and the Vive Trackers both work fine. If you have the new base stations, I’ve heard they work fine with the trackers. I’m not sure about the older Vive handhelds though, but if they don’t work with the new base stations, then I’ll just use the Index controllers.

Vive Pro's base stations (same as Valve Index's full kit) has fovs of: horizontal 150° and vertical 110°, based on this HTC's quide [www.vive.com].
